Description: Brugnano et al investigated an anti-inflammatory cell-penetrating peptide KAFAKLAARLYRKALARQLGVAA, (KAFAK), which inhibits MAPK-activated protein kinase 2 (MK2). MK2 controls the synthesis of many pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1, TNF-α, and IL-6. The MK2 pathway is triggered in osteoarthritis and promotes release of enzymes that degrade cartilage.
